Hear from the frontiers of applied behavioural science through leading academics on the topic of the ethics of nudging, the Co-Founder of the Global Association of Applied Behavioural Scientists (GAABS), and connect and collaborate with practitioners on design problems.

We are glad to announce the Behavioural Design In-Action: Insights and Workshop co-organised by the Action Design Network, the Irish Behavioural Science and Policy Network and the UCD Behavioural Science and Policy Group.

The purpose of the event is to provide an opportunity to learn about cutting-edge behavioural research applications for business and policy; and connect and learn from those across Ireland interested in designing for positive change.

This is a free event. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided. There will also be an opportunity to network after the event at a nearby location.

18:00 – 18:30: The FORGOOD Framework in Action: Should we nudge people to live sustainably?

Leonhard Lades, Assistant Professor, University College Dublin, Irish Behavioural Science and Policy Group Lead

Is it ethically legitimate to nudge people towards sustainable action? Or is it unethical not to do so? This talks will not provide the answers. But it will encourage a more systematic reflection on questions such as: What are the arguments in favour of nudging people to fly less frequently? What are the arguments suggesting that it is unethical to nudge people to become vegetarians?

18:30 – 19:00: Reinterpreting Human Behaviour: An Alternative Approach

Explore how to interpret behaviour differently as part of a a new Behavioural Diagnostic Tool that focuses as much on the business problem as the mis-judgment traps practitioners face in designing solutions.

19:00 – 19:30: Applying Concepts Workshop: Hear from and collaborate with fellow attendees, to solve and design for a live sustainability behaviour change challenge
